Kathy Kmonk is one of the principle owners of Mattress Discounters which is a subsidiary of Best Mattress Inc. As a wife and a mother of 3 young boys, and being raised in the Pittsburgh area…dedication, hard work, honesty and excellence are the values that Kathy promotes in the business and in everyday life. As the spokesperson of the company, Kathy demands the same effort from her extended Mattress Discounters family, in the way of being the best they can be.

Kathy works with some local charities to help promote their worthwhile causes. Kathy was the recipient of the “Doing the Most Good” award which was bestowed upon her by the Salvation Army in 2006 for her efforts regarding the “Dare to Care Kids Crusade”. This program, which was initiated by Mattress Discounters in conjunction with the Salvation Army, provides mattresses to needy children that do not have a bed to sleep on. This is an annual event that runs from July 4th thru Labor Day. Being an animal lover, and proud owner of “Reggie”, the family’s beloved Golden Retriever, Kathy finds time to bring awareness to the efforts of the Animal Friends organization. Special sales events are promoted annually to raise money to be donated to Animal Friends programs. This promotion usually runs from the beginning of February thru Easter. Another charity that is on Kathy’s agenda is the WTAE’s Project Bundle Up which helps provide winter clothing and necessities to local children who are in need. This Event starts at Thanksgiving and lasts till Christmas.

Although a principle owner of Mattress Discounters, Kathy does not participate in the operational aspects of the business, as that is left to the capable management team. Any questions or concerns for Kathy will be considered but may not be answered due to time restrictions or volume of inquiries. However, all will be forwarded to the proper department to ensure that your questions will be given due consideration.

Mattress Discounters believes in doing all we can to help the environment. That’s why we have partnered with a company that recycles almost 97% of the used bedding that we remove from homes. Some mattresses that are collected by other stores usually end up in a land fill, or end up being re-upholstered and possibly re-sold. Mattress Discounters does not believe in recovering or re-selling used product. That is why we adhere to a “Green First” policy concerning our discarded units. By doing this, we are guaranteeing the facts that not only are you getting a fresh, new, clean mattress…..but that we are promoting a clean and safe environment.
